Wade's new haircut...

There are so many moments that I really wish I had my camera on me. Yesterday was one of those. I finished up my final student teaching classes (yippee!) yesterday, so Wade and Gwen met me at the mall last night for a celebratory dinner. Wade has been needing a haircut and so we figured, what the hey- there's like a million salons at this mall so why not. We just walked up to the first one and sent him in with no directions more than "trim it up a bit". In hindsight, maybe we should've had a picture. I came back to the salon after an hour and half of window shopping to find my husband all Thai pop starred out. Gwen sees him and her jaw drops- she stomps her little foot on the ground and screams "They cut off all your bangs!!!" At this moment, the Thai salon staff are starting to suspect that perhaps all is not well. Wade is walking towards the front of the salon in that stiff, don't turn your head, don't make eye contact state of embarrassment. I just lose it. I had to turn around to keep from literally breaking down into fits of laughter. I ended up completely abandoning him and headed into the crowd because I just couldn't contain it. I really thought I was at risk of peeing myself I was laughing so hard. His hair was blown dry and puffed so prettily on top of his head. The bangs curled down over his forehead. The sides feathered oh so delicately. He pays and meets me out in the crowd- walking briskly not looking anywhere but straight ahead and says "I need to find a bathroom. NOW." One of my classmates was with us at the time, and he did look back at the salon as we were all baling into the crowd. He said the salon staff were completely crestfallen with our apparent lack of enthusiasm for Wade's new look. I do feel bad about that. It actually turned out to not be as bad of a haircut as we feared. Wade was able to style it this morning in a very fetching manner that didn't require any hairspray at all.

Man, I can't believe you let him mess it up before you got home and took a pic! I think you should recreate it for your blog readers. It's just the right thing to do.
